Robyn Brown
Robyn serves as CEO of Bold Idea and is responsible for the overall strategy and delivery of the organization's technology education programs, expansion and the execution of its mission. She cultivates a strong volunteer team and is developing its mentor training program. As the lead brand ambassador, Robyn actively engages and energizes volunteers, board members, partners and donors in Bold Idea's vision for a community of young coders and problem solvers.
Alongside Ben Davis and Jenn Beecham, Robyn is a Bold Idea founder and advocate for project-based computer science education.
Robyn grew up in Wylie, raised by a TV technician and a mother who calls herself the Queen Bee. Both encouraged Robyn to use her imagination and never take life so seriously that you can’t laugh at yourself at the end of the day. It was her natural curiosity that led her to study Journalism at the University of North Texas. Robyn was driven by the need to understand people’s motivations and how she could influence their understanding of the world around them. Under the tutelage of an ex-Wall Street Journal reporter, she learned the value of research and asking the hard questions.
Robyn’s writing skills led her to a decade-long career in public relations and content marketing for companies in the technology industry, including Microsoft, Dell and Paradigm, as well as several technology startups. In her free time, she volunteered as a Girl Scout troop leader for girls in High School and four years as the director of a summer day camp. In 2014, she served as the events director for Launch DFW, organizing its highly-attended Dallas New Tech event and startup happy hours. For Robyn, Bold Idea is the culmination of this time mentoring young women and writing about software innovation.
